Scarlett Johansson has recently made an appearance at ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ where she talked about Black Widow, insisting that Black Widow movie is a closure for her and fans. Natasha Romanoff is no more and isn’t coming back to the MCU.
Since we all know that Black Widow movie is a prequel, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is the only character in the big five of the Avengers who didn’t get a standalone movie. With Black Widow movie coming next year in May, fans will see her on big screens for one last time.
The theory harks back to “Avengers: Infinity War,” where, in order to secure the soul stone, Thanos threw Gamora off the cliff, and at that time, many fans felt that Gamora would return for Avengers: Endgame. Based on this, the fans assumed that Gamora is trapped in the soul stone rather than being dead. Gamora instead came back from the past when Avengers discovered time travel.
According to Scarlett, it is highly unlikely that the same plot will be used to bring a past version of Black Widow to the future.
The actress said on the show:
“There are very few certain things, but like, definitely death’s pretty certain, right? And yeah, definitely for sure. And then people just don’t wanna; they won’t, they definitely don’t believe it and have tried to convince me that my character did not actually die, but that maybe my character existed in an alternate universe. But no, I think death is a final thing.”
Scarlett Johansson pointed out in the show that the death of her character is not likely to reverse, but the upcoming Black Widow movie which is also part of MCU Phase 4, will definitely give fans one last adventure with the SHIELD agent-turned-superhero.
She further added:
“People just don’t want to believe it! They have tried to convince me that my character did not actually die, that maybe my character exists in an alternate universe. But no, I think death is a pretty final thing.”
